Use of Instagram can have emotional impact that transcends the digital space into real life experiences and relationships. Unintentional use, which is the majority of Instagram use, can lead to negative emotional consequences.

Over the course of the FA 2025 semester, I explored the emotional implications of Instagram use. Methods used included background research/related works, think aloud, directed storytelling, surveying, storyboards + speed dating, and low-fidelity prototyping. These methods were completed with 18 different participants, with some participating in multiple methods. Examples of course deliverables are embedded below.
